HEALTH 'N' LIVING

BACKGROUND

Health 'n' Living is a project involving African kidney patients and their carers / families. The project employs behavioural approaches to healthy living and prevent and manage diabetes and high blood pressure in African communities. Diabetes and high blood pressure are the main causes of kidney failure in African communities.

Activities

The project will provide the following activities

Exercise sessions at fitness centres and other venues

Healthy walks for physical fitness and to prevent or manage osteoporosis

Social activities such as get together, cultural activities, visit to some places

Workshops such as physical management, nutrition and healthy eating

Management of associated conditions such as diabetes, osteoporosis,

Management of of emotions for patients and stress for carers
