Research Opportunities
AFREKID Research Funding
AFREKID’s investment strategy is all about futures – the
healthy futures of kidney patients and their families
that we are working to ensure through our
soon-to-be-expanded research program. The funding is for
research grants and fellowships to promising young
African scientists. Top areas of research focus include
chronic kidney disease, haemodialysis, high blood
pressure, cardiovascular disease and paediatric kidney
disease.
Funding Opportunities for Clinical and Basic Research
AFREKID to embark upon an initiative designed to
increase support of clinical research through its
Postdoctoral Fellowship, Young Investigator Grant and
Clinical Scientist Award programs. This undertaking
includes the establishment of a special Study Section
which will review Fellowship, Young Investigator Grant,
and Clinical Scientist Award proposals involving
clinical research. Basic science applications are
reviewed by a separate Study Section which evaluates all
Fellowship and Young Investigator Grant proposals
involving basic research.
